When You Need a PIN Reset

Use the PIN reset flow when you've forgotten your current 6-digit security PIN and cannot complete a PIN-gated action (such as adding a debtor, running a manual sweep, or editing debtor details).

If you know your current PIN and simply want to change it to something new, you don't need this flow. Instead, go to Account Settings → Security → Change PIN and enter your current PIN to proceed. The reset flow below is specifically for forgotten PINs.

How PIN Reset Works

PIN reset requires email verification to confirm you are the account owner. Because the PIN itself is hashed (we never store it in plain text), we cannot retrieve it — we can only replace it after verifying your identity through your registered email address.

This verification step is what makes the reset secure. Without it, anyone with physical access to your device could bypass the PIN's protection by simply requesting a reset.

Step-by-Step: Resetting Your PIN

  1. 1
    Log in to your account

You must be logged in to request a PIN reset. Visit trackmydebtor.com/login and sign in with your email and password. If you've also forgotten your password, see Forgot Your Password? first.

  2. 2
Go to Account Settings → Security

Navigate to Account Settings from your dashboard and open the Security section.

  3. 3
    Click "Reset PIN"

Select the Reset PIN option (distinct from "Change PIN"). You'll be shown a brief explanation of what's about to happen before confirming.

  4. 4
Check your email for the verification link

A PIN reset email is sent to your registered account email address. Open it and click the Reset My PIN link. This link expires quickly — complete the process promptly after clicking.

  5. 5
    Set your new 6-digit PIN

Enter a new 6-digit numeric PIN, then confirm it. Click Save New PIN. Your PIN is now reset and active.

Act quickly

PIN reset email links expire quickly for security reasons. If you see an expiry error, return to Account Settings and request a new reset link. There is no limit on how many times you can request one.

What Happens During the Reset

When you initiate a PIN reset, any action you had in progress that was blocked by the PIN prompt will be cancelled. After your new PIN is set, you will need to retry that action and enter the new PIN when prompted.

Everything else on your account is completely unaffected by a PIN reset:

  • Your password remains unchanged
  • Your debtors, sweep history, and alert data are untouched
  • Your subscription and billing are unaffected
  • Your account session remains active

PIN Reset vs. PIN Change

To be clear about when to use each path:

  • Change PIN (Account Settings → Security → Change PIN) — use when you know your current PIN and want to update it to a new one. Requires entering the current PIN to authorize the change.
  • Reset PIN (Account Settings → Security → Reset PIN) — use when you've forgotten your PIN entirely. Requires email verification instead of the current PIN, since you don't know it.

Security Note

The PIN reset process is designed to be secure without being unnecessarily difficult. The email verification step confirms you control the registered email address, which is the same identity proof used for password resets. This means that securing your email account is essential — it is the fallback for both your password and your PIN.
